May

May was the month of sunshine and smiles for class S2 as pupils enjoyed a variety of engaging outdoor learning experiences. From planting vibrant flowers in our Eco Schools sensory garden to open air art lessons. The senior playground was buzzing with activity as we joined up with other classes to explore the outdoors. These hands on activities not only enriched their understanding but also made learning fun.

April

S2 pupils had a fantastic time engaging in outdoor learning activities focusing on measures, using a variety of spring themed items to explore real life maths in nature. They particularly enjoyed the ABL tasks that brought learning to life, investigating seasonal changes through science experiments. The excitement continued with our Easter extravaganza in the hall with senior classes for a fun filled celebration combined with creativity and plenty of springtime cheer!

March

S2 explored the cultures of France and Italy, learning about their traditions, landmarks and famous dishes while having the opportunity to make a variety of their foods. As the weather improves we have been able to take our learning outside, engaging in nature based activities including science experiments to change the colour of flowers. Pupils took part in different sports events at the South Lake leisure centre. Throughout the month pupils have been completing numeracy and literacy tasks that focus on using money.

February

This month pupils had an exciting time exploring science with ice and snow, conducting fun experiments, they engaged in creative writing and storytelling, using wintry themes and lots of imagination. Numeracy lessons introduced money, where pupils practiced counting coins and in role play shops, we even enjoyed spending some money at Tesco café. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the class embraced the theme of love and kindness, making heartfelt cards and giving handmade gifts to S7L!

January

This month S2 have been exploring winter themed activities. In science, they investigated the properties of ice by conducting melting and freezing experiments. Art sessions filled with creativity as pupils craft snowflakes, patterns and paint winter landscapes. Literacy comes to life with winter themed stories, writing and reading seasonal books. Numeracy activities included counting, measuring and solving winter problems.

December

December has been a busy month with lots of activities and festivities for the pupils to enjoy. This month we have been focusing on houses and homes and exploring materials needed to make a warm and safe home. We have also enjoyed football sessions with Amy from NI football and the pupils have improved their ball techniques over the month! We have made some Christmas art pieces and cooked some festive treats, including a Christmas tree pizza! We met Dolly the donkey and had a visit from Santa, not to mention singing carols at Tesco! So have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all in S2.

November

This month our pupils have been busy exploring and learning through a range of engaging activities. In science, they investigated different materials and completed hands on experiments. They also developed practical life skills by looking at menus and practicing how to order in a restaurant setting. Class S2 enjoyed participating in the football sessions in the hall as well as some music activities to inspire rhythm and expression, a jam packed month!

October

This month we have been focusing on Autumn and exploring the characteristics within this season, class S2 created their own mobile shop and sold apples around the school. In science we looked at various different materials such as twigs, leaves and stones to discuss their properties. Our circle time focus was round building positive relationships with others.
